Internship For Native Americans
We are very honored to have had our first Native American Intern with us last summer. Carla Dean is an enrolled Klamath tribal member and currently lives on the Warm Springs Reservation here in Oregon. Through our collaboration with the Warm Springs Community Action Team, we were able to offer her a one week immersion into the world of a small business operation.
While she gained an overview of the tipi making process, we discussed ideas and penciled out opportunities for her and her family to create a small enterprise. This process is ongoing and we hope that with our continuous encouragement, she will be able to establish her own small business that can potentially partner with Nomadics.
Custom Door Flaps
The tipi door is the entry to your sanctuary. Designing a custom door that represents something personal and significant can be a great way to express the essence and spirit of your space.
Our artists find much joy in working with you to define and individualize your vision. We welcome the opportunity to create beautiful pieces of art from your dreams and imaginings.
You can find many examples of custom doors on our website, both in the photo gallery or under the Artwork tab.
Shirley Estes Book
As the photo contest winner for our January 205 and March 2025 Calendar Photos, Shirley has been an active Nomadics customer since she purchased her first tipi many years ago. In Native American culture and tradition, the teepee is not only a physical dwelling, it is also an honored place of spiritual significance and it is within this cultural context that Shirley, aka Whispering Wind, wrote her book.
Shirley writes that “Inside the Tepee Looking Up” is a collection of writings reflecting struggles and solutions that cross cultural barriers. We all have or will find ourselves in places that bring pain and perplex us, but there is a steadying and secure source of hope, if we will look up to Creator for our ultimate help. She lives in Ruidoso, NM and you can purchase the book on her website or follow her on Facebook.
